It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the 18th International Conference on Photonics and Imaging in Biology and Medicine (PIBM 2026), which will be held in Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, China, from July 18 to 21, 2026.
PIBM is the premier international conference series in biomedical photonics hosted in Asia. Originally proposed by Dr. Britton Chance, known as the father of biophotonics, PIBM was launched by Huazhong University of Science and Technology and held biennially from 1999 to 2005, before transitioning to an annual event from 2006 to 2014. The conference serves as a forum for scientists, engineers, and clinical researchers from multidisciplinary fields to exchange ideas and advance optical and imaging solutions for challenges in biology and medicine. Its scope spans from basic research to applications and demonstrations, covering topics including but not limited to neurophotonics, immunophotonics, agri-photonics, analytical biophotonics, translational biophotonics, and AI for biophotonics.
Abstract submission is now open online. PIBM 2026 will continue to present the Best Student Paper Award and the Best Poster Award to recognize outstanding contributions by students and young researchers. Authors of accepted presentations may choose to publish a conference paper in the Proceedings of SPIE (EI-indexed) or submit their work to the peer-reviewed journal Journal of Innovative Optical Health Science (JIOHS, SCI-indexed with an impact factor of 2.2, and also indexed by EI and Scopus).
